Liza and Willie met in music class at Newtown High School, Queens, New York. They became very good friends and wrote songs together. Willie created a bachata group called Juventud where he was the lead guitarist and Liza was the lead singer. After "Juventud" broke up, Liza and Willie became musicians for bachata artist Andy Andy. Shortly after, another bachata group was created and named MW (Many Ways) with Liza, Willie and friend Melvin. MW was signed to RFG Records and distributed by J&N Records. MW’s Changing the World album was released in the year 2005. The group then disbanded.
Liza and Willie continued with their life for seven years, still writing and recording. In 2014 they both said "Why quit? Why now?" They decided not to give up what brought them together—MUSIC. This is how they became the bachata duo Liza + Willie.
In 2015, Liza + Willie released their singles, "Culpables" and "Siempre" and in 2016 they released their single “Vivir Sin Tu Amor.” In 2017 they released their hit single "Perdón" which had more than 1 million views plays on Spotify. Their single titled "Catálogo De Amor" appeared on the album Bchta Rising by Grammy-nominated producer SP Polanco. In September of the Year 2022 Liza + Willie were the first Bachateros to perform at the Smithsonian Museum for the CHCI committee in Washington DC. LIZA + WILLIE have over 5 million broadcasts on Spotify and 600K views on YouTube. Their first album, Once Upon A Time, was released in March 2023.
